Catalyst Repository Systems – the leader in secure, cloud-based software powering global discovery for corporations and law firms – will present a free luncheon seminar in Hartford, Conn., April 30 on advanced uses of technology assisted review (TAR) in e-discovery.

Catalyst is presenting the seminar in partnership with Women in eDiscovery and Esquire Deposition Solutions. The panel will include in-house counsel from IBM, AIG and JPMorgan Chase to share their perspectives on how corporations can best use TAR to improve access to data, increase efficiency and control costs.

The use of TAR – also known as predictive coding or computer assisted review – has grown significantly in recent years. Less recognized, however, is that TAR has a range of uses beyond simple review that can help in mastering large document sets, from information governance to early case assessment and preparing for depositions and trial. The Hartford seminar will provide an introduction to TAR and then discuss:

  • The corporate perspective on when TAR is most effective and for what purposes.
  • How lawyers can use TAR to prepare for depositions and trial.
  • How TAR can reduce the cost of cross-border matters involving multi-language documents.
  • How TAR 2.0 systems can help businesses and legal departments increase efficiency and control costs.

The panel will be moderated by Gail L. Gottehrer, a litigation partner with Axinn, Veltrop & Harkrider in Hartford and the director of the Connecticut chapter of Women in eDiscovery. Panelists will be: Stacey Blaustein, an attorney in the Corporate Litigation Department of IBM Corp.;Dawson Horn, vice president, associate general counsel & deputy director of eDiscovery at AIG; Kiriaki Tourikis, vice president and assistant general counsel, Legal Discovery Management, JPMorgan Chase & Co.; and John Tredennick, a former trial lawyer and the founder and CEO of Catalyst.

The April 30 event runs from noon to 2:30 p.m. ET. Admission is free but advance registration is required.
